Please Spay and Neuter your Pets

An unspayed female dog, her mate and all of their puppies and their puppies’ puppies, if none are ever neutered or spayed, add up to 128 in just 2 years

An unspayed female cat, her mate and all of their offspring, producing 2 litters per year, with 2.8 surviving kittens per litter can total 67 cats in just 2 years. Some cats are having 3 to 4 litters of kittens a year and kittens are getting pregnant as early as 3 months old.

  • There are no benefits of letting your female have just one litter. Research shows the whole pet population virtually stems from just one litter.
  • Many pet owners think their dog is special and unique and that is why they should breed their dog. The shelters and pounds are full of cute and unique dogs and cats. Most with only a few days to live.
  • Just because your dog is a purebred doesn’t mean it should be bred. 25% of dogs in shelters are purebred not including those in rescue groups.
  • The removal of the ovaries and uterus helps prevent pyometra (puss filled uterus) and breast cancer. Spaying your cat or dog before her first heat offers the best protection from these diseases.
  • Neutering your male dog or cat before he is six month of age, prevents from unwanted litters and prevents from testicular cancer.
  • Unspayed female cats go in heat 4-5 days every 3 weeks during breeding season and. They yowl and urinate.
  • Female dogs have a bloody discharge for about 1 week an can conceive for an additional week. Bigger dogs have more discharge than small dogs.
  • Male and Female dogs start roaming away from home and will just do about anything to find a mate. That includes digging his or her way out under the fence, jumping the fence, darting out of an open door, fights with other male dogs or may cause traffic injuries to him or others.
  • Male cats and dogs both mark their territory indoors and outdoors by spraying strong smelling urine. Some male dogs mount furniture or human legs.
  • You can prevent aggression problems by early neutering. Statistically most dog bites are inflicted by intact males.
  • A neutered dog protects his home as much as a unneutered dog.
  • Spaying or neutering your pet will not make him fat and lazy. Only overfeeding your animal and lack of exercise will cause that.
  • Stray animals cause car accidents, scare people, damage the local fauna, pray on wildlife or someone’s pet.
  • Your child does not need to witness the miracle of birth. Some children are actually grossed out by it and there are books and videos available to teach your children about birth in a responsible manner.
  • By spaying your animal you will set a good example for your children and help prevent animal abuse.
  • Altering your pet will not change your pets personality. The main influences on an animal’s personality are the kindness and care it has been raised.

Spaying and neutering your pet is not as expensive as:

  • Caring for a litter.
  • The vet cost if they get into a fight.
  • The cost for carpet cleaning after they sprayed it with urine.
  • The cost for the traffic accident and injuries caused

Each day 70,000 puppies and kittens are born in the United States, while only 10,000 people are born. That’s 7 dogs and cats born for every human born in the United States. Please be a part of the solution, spay and neuter! Thank you.

Testimonial

Indoors or outdoors a male dog will smell a female dog in heat miles away. I had male dogs appear on my doorstep that I never seen in my neighborhood while my female was in heat. My female also became a Houdini and escaped whenever she could in that time.

My neighbor has his female dog tied up in the yard. Well another neighbor’s dog always comes over and gets her pregnant. She had 3 litters now.
